Grants available for communities, landowners, councils in the High Weald

Protected landscapes like the High Weald need looking after. They rely on communities, landowners, councils and volunteers to care for them and safeguard them for future generations. We have recently launched two new grant opportunities to help people support and protect the High Weald.

High Weald Nature and Community Fund

If you are passionate about wildlife, love your local landscape or want to help more people connect with nature then you could apply for a High Weald Nature and Community Fund grant.

The funding is open to charities, community groups, churches, parish councils and landowners across the High Weald. Whether your idea is big or small, if it supports the landscape and local communities, it could be eligible.

Projects might include creating community gardens, orchards or allotments, restoring natural habitats such as hedgerows or ponds, supporting species through installing bird and bat boxes, or running activities that help people connect with nature.

Our director Jason Lavender explains, “Our stunning landscape has been shaped over more than a thousand years by the people who live, work and care for it. These grants are a way to support and celebrate those continuing that legacy today.”

Grants of £500 to £20,000 are available for projects that benefit nature and people. This year, a total of £300,000 is on offer, thanks to support from Lund Trust.

How it works

You can find out more on the grant page of on our website. Then, if you have an idea for a project that you think would be eligible, fill in an initial enquiry form and the High Weald team will get in touch to chat through your idea and help shape your application.

Find out more, and submit an enquiry form at High Weald Nature and Community Fund – High Weald National Landscape.

The deadline for initial enquiries is 12 June 2026, and the final deadline for applications is 13 July 2026.

High Weald Lund Fellowships

The High Weald also runs a Fellowship programme, designed to support individuals with a connection to the High Weald to build knowledge and skills that benefit both the landscape and local communities.

You can apply for up to £7,500 towards a range of activities, including going to conferences, attending training courses and visiting individuals and organisations doing interesting work.

The aim is simple: to bring back fresh ideas, skills and energy that can be shared across the High Weald community.
